Campaign for Clean Experiences
If you’re reading this newsletter, it means you’re curious about Clean. But have you experienced its power for yourself? We want to make sure that every one of our newsletter readers has had that opportunity, whether in a formal training, coaching or therapy session, an informal taster event or a teleseminar. If you haven’t, yet, and you’d like to, please email and we’ll find a way to make it happen!
Clean Summer School hits Cambridge
It’s finally here! You can become a Certified Clean Facilitator (Foundation level) in one 12-day adventure this summer. By popular demand from overseas readers of this newsletter, we’ve combined Clean Change Company’s Modules 1-4, and certification, into a single residential school. We’ll be based in historic St Catharine’s College, Cambridge: pictures here www.caths.cam.ac.uk. Full details, including special low prices for bookings received before the end of February, here.
Success stories
“Yesterday I had the pleasure of doing some coaching using Clean Space. It really is a delightful and fascinating process. .. At the end my client took a very deep breath and gave me a big smile; her language and physiology suggesting a significant integration of the learning at the different spaces she had visited (the journey, to use her metaphor) and a nice, fitting and “Clean” way of closing. What also pleased me was discovering that you can use the Clean Space process in quite limiting physical conditions; this was a small meeting room with a large table and chairs taking up much of the floor. With one proxy space, it still worked easily and well. Fab really. My appetite for doing this stuff grows with every time I use it! ” Ken Smith, Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
Certified Clean Facilitators take a bow
The very first people to be certified as Clean Facilitators (Foundation level) are celebrating this week after being accredited by a team including Penny Tompkins, James Lawley and Wendy Sullivan (see pic, left). Take a bow! For the profiles of the certified Clean Facilitators check out the Clean Change Company website: and, judging by the amount of enthusiasm at the accreditation event, you’ll be hearing much more from them in the future.
Cleaning tip: tap into the power of metaphor
One question beginners often ask is: “Which part of what someone says should I ask my Clean question about?” A good approach is to go for the metaphor inherent in what somebody says, one of their ‘figures of speech’.
We can hardly think or speak without metaphor: love ‘is’warmth, bad things ‘are’ stinky, big ‘means’ important. According to one piece of research, ordinary language clocks up about four metaphors a minute – and experienced Clean facilitators can spot many more than that. Metaphors are at the core of how we think, and the metaphors we use in language indicate the metaphors we’re using in our thoughts. So ask about a metaphor – any metaphor – and you and your client are likely to get interesting new information.
Modelling the Modelling Masters
Spaces are still available for this unique event with Penny and James in Bath on 27 and 28 February. if you prefer to learn by ‘finding out’ rather than being taught, or want to take your Symbolic Modelling skill to a new level, take a look at the details here
