Clean Language
Taster Teleclass
Curious about Clean Language? Our Taster Teleclass is a simple way to experience for yourself what it's like to ask, and be asked, Clean Language questions. Expect to be surprised!
You'll also have the chance to ask Wendy Sullivan questions about Clean Language in general and our trainings in particular.
The Teleclass starts at 7pm sharp and lasts around 90 minutes.
Calls cost 5p per minute from a UK landline, all of which goes to the service provider - we charge nothing. The Teleclass is accessible from anywhere in the world, but international call charges will apply.

"Clean language and using metaphor to help people change is a fascinating area. Wendy Sullivan's teleclass is an excellent introduction and has left me intrigued about the potential for using clean Language." Francis Miller, business consultant.
"Wendy really knows her Clean Language stuff! With a wonderfully human touch, she gave me and my fellow participants a truly meaningful experience of how it works and can help people to get the changes they want in their lives." Mark Haverstock.
Other points to bear in mind: Use a landline, rather than a mobile phone. NB Calling from a mobile can be VERY expensive and often poor quality and for both reasons is NOT recommended.
Call from
a quiet place - environmental noise is distracting,
for you and other participants. Generally the
sound is better for everyone if you use the handset
rather than the speaker.
Please
come prepared to 'have a go'. One reason
for limiting numbers is so that it is possible for
you to ask, and be asked, some Clean Language questions,
so that you experience them.
In the interests of confidentiality, we ask that no-one records the class.
The teleclass in brief
After brief introductions and some background information,
you will hear a demonstration of the process with one of the particpants. Everyone
will then get the chance to ask and be asked a few Clean
Language questions. After an opportunity to ask some questions, there will then be another demonstration and more asking and being asked questions by participants. The
whole experience lasts an hour and a half, with time
for you to ask questions about Clean Language and
about our training. Our first group activity will involve answering this question: When
you are listening at your best, that's like what?
Please have a think about this before the class. For
example, when I am listening at my best, it's like 'having blinkers over my ears and eyes',
so that I only hear sounds coming from one source
and only see that source. For
someone else, when they are listening at their
best, it might be like 'being in a translucent bubble with the other person and no-one else can get into the bubble' - it is aas if 'the two of them are in their own world'. Of
course, for you, the experience may be different
- in fact it's almost bound to be! Our second group activity will involve answering this question: What would you like to have happen?
Please come with a desired outcome in answer to that question. Choose one about which you are happy to answer some questions, if you are asked. This can be for any context in your life (personal, work, family, etc) If
yours is one of those explored, you may
get some significant personal development
from it. This would be a bonus:
the main purpose in this teleclass is
for you to learn about and experience
the process of asking and being asked
these questions.
Clean Language Information
You needn't learn the
information below (and repeated at
the end of the email), but do read
through it before the class and have it with you. The question for getting started and for requesting a desired outcome: And what would you like to have happen?
The
base-level Clean Language Questions that we will
be covering: And
what kind of x is that x?
And is there anything else about x?
And where/whereabouts is x?
And that's like what?
Is there a relationship between x and y?
Example of a Clean Language Question being asked:
Client: 'It's like I'm
hitting my head against a brick wall.' Coach: 'And it's like you're hitting your head against a brick wall. And when you're
hitting your head, is there anything else
about that hitting?' You
may notice that we start by repeating
the client's actual words so that they know we are really listening. Then we zoom in on a part of what they've
said and we ask a Clean Language question
about it, using their words.
